From 2020 to 2025, inclusive, the estimated framework value was £30m. Our client, a MEICA engineering and construction firm specializing in water treatment facilities for UK water companies, submitted a bid for AMP 7 engineering works covering a network of clean water and wastewater sites. The Buyer was seeking five-year tender support through AMP 7, keeping AMP 8 in sight. Having established a regional satellite office during AMP 6, the client assembled a cross-disciplinary bid writing team led by Curtis Bartlett. Over the course of six weeks, this team developed a compelling proposal, coordinating inputs across mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, control automation, and project management, while also traveling to engage with SMEs for drafting responses. AMP 7 stressed the importance of Collaboration and Early Engagement (aligned with NEC contracts) and innovation within the water sector.
Our client emphasized their alignment with the Buyer’s values, referencing successful case studies, including the swift redeployment of resources in 2017 to aid in the recovery of flood-damaged facilities. As a result, our client secured a place on the AMP 7 framework, allowing for the continuation of the partnership for another five years. This outcome not only strengthened the client-supplier relationship but also showcased their capability in addressing technical, health, safety, and wellbeing considerations at water treatment and wastewater sites, translating into tangible benefits for the Buyer and its customers.

. In 2025, the estimated initial framework value was £50m for this major UK nuclear infrastructure project, which was a must-win for our client. BBM was designated as Project Lead to coordinate the bid writing process, crafting a comprehensive 73,000-word submission structured across seven sections: Technical; Industrial Delivery Capability and Supply Chain; Collaboration, Delivery Team and Interfaces; Productivity and Innovation; Industrial Relations Strategy and Project Environment; Health, Safety, Environment & Quality; and Commercial. To enhance our tender support, BBM implemented a bespoke Bid Tracker, established a shared Microsoft Teams workflow with our client’s SMEs, and conducted regular online meetings to drive progress, initially daily and then twice weekly as the process stabilised.
The bid team included three writers from two companies along with BBM’s contributions. Data and drafts were iteratively allocated, reviewed, and refined through multiple review cycles until final approval. Close collaboration with the client’s internal project team ensured rapid access to data and alignment on responses. The tender was completed on time and submitted well before the portal deadline. In October 2024, our client’s bid was announced as successful, securing a place on the framework. The benefits of this collaborative effort included strong senior-level trust, cross-company integration, and a robust, transparent process that effectively managed complex information flows, increased efficiency, and ensured the submission not only met but exceeded client objectives. This case study exemplifies the effective use of bid writing and tender support in achieving significant project milestones.

In 2022, with an estimated framework value of £2m, BBM provided essential bid writing support to a civil engineering firm in South Wales that was incumbent on an expiring framework. The firm aimed to secure a contract serving 15 local councils and the Welsh Government by tendering for three lots within a one-month window. To manage the workload and address the complex requirements, including Carbon Reduction and Social Value, the client sought BBM's expertise in tender support. BBM mapped out a comprehensive approach, established dates and responsibilities using a bespoke Bid Tracker, and conducted a kick-off meeting to ensure alignment with the Council’s needs.
Our team meticulously drafted bespoke case studies and responses, held review meetings, and refined edits until the final approval was achieved. As a result of our effective bid writing, BBM’s client successfully won all three lots and retained the framework for an additional three years. The benefits included the opportunity to showcase the client's unique capabilities, such as their own recycling plant, provide robust evidence for claims, and deliver high-quality responses that received positive feedback, particularly concerning Carbon Emissions and Social Value.

In 2022, with an estimated framework value of £1m, BBM provided tender support to a leading supplier of cleaning products as they aimed to secure a contract for a high-traffic, internationally recognized visitor attraction. This client sought a sustainable and cost-effective partner for their cleaning, hygiene supplies, and dispensing equipment needs. Leveraging a strong prior relationship, BBM executed a rapid approach to meet the ten-day tender window by utilizing our bespoke Bid Tracker, ensuring alignment among all parties involved. The bid included detailed responses addressing key issues such as Palm Oil, Waste, Packaging, and Net Zero Carbon, along with a bespoke written proposal. Our team worked closely with the client to produce compliant and compelling answers in areas like Account Management, Service & Maintenance, Sustainable Procurement, and Social Value, as well as Ethical Frameworks, Pricing, Costs, Contract Performance, Sustainability Reviews, Management Reporting, References, Testimonials, and Implementation Procedures, supported by custom graphics. This collaborative bid writing effort resulted in a framework award designating our client as the sole supplier for the entire estate. The award highlights the strong alignment with the buyer’s sustainability goals and demonstrates how our client would enhance the estate’s cleaning, hygiene, and sustainability plans through collaboration and measurable impact, providing a valuable case study in successful bid writing and tender support.
